WEEK 14 - PREPARING AND PROCESSING WOOL

I began experimenting this week with creating my own blended yarn, as there was a pattern within my development board that featured an interesting blend of orange and black. I dyed some processed wool orange and experimented with combining this with my black yarn to create an interesting, blended colour. This took a couple of days to achieve enough that could create a large section within a panel. This sample was the first that used my dark, undyed yarn and I felt that it was necessary to have as it added an interesting depth in colour, which combined with my other colourful samples worked well. This gave me inspiration to create a fully undyed sample, using my white processed wool combined with the black. I feel this combined within my collection will add an interesting contrast and will help break the colours up. The preparation for this sample took many days, as lots of wool had to be cleaned, processed and spun to create enough for a large sample.
