WEEK 10 - LEARNING NEW TECHNIQUES

Due to my last week success in creating a sample done using knit-de-knit, I wanted to create another with the use of different colours and yarns. I have done the same process as used before, dip-dyeing a panel of knit and the unravelling it. For this sample I used no undyed cream wool, making it a full coloured sample again using indigo and madder. I unravelled this and reknitted it back into the machine, this time adding more sections of similar coloured yarn that I had previously dyed. This sample was just as successful as the first, creating a vibrant, blended look. After creating two samples like this, I wanted to start experimenting with knitting techniques to add a different look to my growing collection. I spent a couple of days learning how to create organic, ribbed looks on the knit machine with plain yarn. This week was successful as I created two samples that worked well together in a collection and looked very effective.
